Jean-Michel Folon
Jean-Michel Folon, geboren in 1934 en overleden in 2005, was een Belgische aquarellist, schilder, graveerder en beeldhouwer.
Tijdens een lunch onder vrienden in de 110 bood Jean-Michel Folon Rudy Vanlancker aan om de uitnodigingskaart voor de opening van het eerste ‘Léon de Bruxelles’-restaurant in Parijs te ontwerpen.
We vinden er alle standaardingrediënten van de belgitude op terug: de Belgische vlag, speculaas, aardappelen, maar ook een Eiffeltoren op stap naar Parijs.

I was a bit iffy about trying this place as it is supposedly very touristy and an institution. Pleasantly surprised as we were quickly given a table and served. Food came quite quickly. Mussels were fresh and delicious, the carbonnade flamande was tender and flavourful. A bit small portion though, mussels on the other hand were plentiful. Chips were crisp and good to mop up the sauces. Beer was good too. Service was efficient and polite.In fact I wanted to add they impressed me so that we went back for dinner again another night and more of the same, only better. The moules frites were again outstanding, and the mussels salad was delicious.

Très bonnes moules et serveur très sympathique. Seul bémol : la bouteille d'eau (50 cl) à 4, 75 € qui ne porte pas d'étiquette et qui n'est pas débouchée devant vous, probablement de l'eau du robinet.

Great place, the seafood is fresh and very tasty. We got a set of snails, oysters, and mussels for 35.50 euros. The sauce was a bit weak, and for such a large platter, a couple more pieces of bread and two extra sauces would have been nice, but overall everything was delicious, and we really enjoyed it. Occasionally, there was some sand. The draft wine wasn’t good—maybe we should have chosen a different one. We got to sit where we wanted, which is a plus. We were first served by an older gentleman, short with gray hair. I asked him for help choosing a dish, but he didn’t help much (we wanted a traditional dish, but the waiter just described the ones on the menu 😂👌🏻).The place has a great atmosphere and looks stylish. The waitstaff are friendly and nice, and so are the chefs (I was filming a video, and they introduced me to the head chef 😂😂, which was fun). I'm sure the other dishes are just as tasty here. I’ll definitely come back 👌🏻👍🏻.

Went there thru recommendation from AI…! Hahaha.. I must say it’s surprisingly great! The ambience was superb.. read reviews about this place. I feel it’s very subjective.For me, I like it here! The food came piping hot! Loves their mussels n fries of course. Not forgetting to mention their escargots.. very fresh for both of them. The pasta was a little blend but none the less.. the place was fantastic! I was early for dinner n there was no dinner crowd yet so didn’t have to wait in queue.

Nous avons passé un bon moment. En entrée, nous avons partagé une assiette de calamars frits à la sauce tartare. Les calamars étaient frais et tendre mais la pâte à friture et la sauce étaient quelconques. Ensuite, nous avons commandé les moules au roquefort et Ardennaises. Elles étaient bonnes mais les frites étaient décevantes. Ma mère avait été dans ce restaurant à plusieurs reprises il y a une cinquantaine d'années et en avait gardé un excellent souvenir mais je me demande si ils ne surfent pas sur leur réputation. Bref bon mais pas incontournable.

Es un lugar rico, pero la experiencia de servicio es muy mala, al menos nosotros comimos ahí y el mesero raya en lo grosero, parece ser que le da preferencia a las mesas más grandes, pero si solo acuden dos personas, no te atienden igual y lo vimos con más de una pareja. La comida es buena, pero no sé si sea la opción correcta para algunos.

Excellent mussles, I took those based on white wine, however the wine taste was nowhere, but the fries were good (served as a sample I m afraid) I took the awful creme brûlée for dessert, it was just a flan with some sparkles of sugary frost. Not worth it's 8€. OK for a bite, but go elsewhere if you want the real deal. Service was top the whole time (except I had to ask for wipes between the dishes).

Mir hat es sehr gut gefallen. Der Service war sehr freundlich, nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen war lecker und wurde schnell serviert. Das Ambiente war für einen großen Laden sehr angenehm. Toiletten waren sauber. Volle Punktzahl.

Couldn't fault the experience we had here. We queued for about 5 minutes but were then seated quickly. We had a meal deal where we had mussels, frites, and a beer.The food came quickly and the staff were very friendly. You may have to queue for longer at busier times but it is worth the wait.

Świetne jedzenie, na które warto czekać (polecam mule zapiekane w serze, królika w piwie i wołowinę w piwie, ale frytki słabe), obsługa trochę „w biegu”, bardzo fajny klimat lokalu, czuć długą historię rodzinnego biznesu, bardzo dobre białe ‚wino domu’, nie jest tanio, ale naprawdę warto tu zjeść i posiedzieć smakując atmosferę tego niezwykłego miejsca…

It was great as usual!Yes, its kind of touristic spot as well but they still trying to take care of every single customer. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, food was delicious. Every time I visited Chez Léon, im getting impressed by the ambiance, that old touch still remains and when you go upstairs you feel like you need to check that old photos and decorations on the walls.

First, hard to understand some bad experiences. We went at lunch time before tours came in. Food couldn't be better. Plenty of fries for 2 people, mussels in cream sauce i ended up drinking the "soup"at the end. Oh wow the mussels with cheese !! Had a waffle with cream, delicious. Had 2 caffes of wine also. Our waiter was fantastic, wife wanted extra napkin to save the logo so he brought 2 business cards and extra wet pack with logos.

My friend and I had our best meal in Brussels here. The mussels deal for one with fries and a beer is great value at €18.75 and the portions are perfect. Staff were very professional and spoke perfect english.

Every time I visited Chez Léon, im getting impressed by the ambiance, that old touch still remains and when you go upstairs you feel like you need to check that old photos and decorations on the walls.

First, hard to understand some bad experiences. We went at lunch time before tours came in. Food couldn't be better. Plenty of fries for 2 people, mussels in cream sauce i ended up drinking the "soup"at the end. Oh wow the mussels with cheese !! Had a waffle with cream, delicious. Had 2 caffes of wine also. Our waiter was fantastic, wife wanted extra napkin to save the logo so he brought 2 business cards and extra wet pack with logos.

My friend and I had our best meal in Brussels here. The mussels deal for one with fries and a beer is great value at €18.75 and the portions are perfect. Staff were very professional and spoke perfect english.
