Jean-Michel Folon
Jean-Michel Folon 1934-2005), was a Belgian watercolourist, painter, engraver and sculptor.
During a friendly lunch with Rudy Vanlancker at “110”, he offered to draw the invitation to the opening of the first “Léon de Bruxelles” restaurant in Paris.
It includes all the Belgian standards (Belgian flag, speculoos, potatoes), as well as an Eiffel Tower on its way to Paris.

Food are great. We ordered the mussels with cheese and herbs, and with tomato and cheese, pasta ad the waffle Léon. The welcome of the server was great at first but never checked us back while having our meal. I metioned this because he's checked the other tables (table spaces are near, you'll notice easily). We have to get his attention if we need something or to get additional order.The hosts were nice though.We just walked in here because it's before 6PM. It gets busy during dinner, I suggest to book a table beforehand.The prices are reasonable as well.

This is a must visit place in Belgium. Genuine dishes, friendly and very competent staff, reasonable prices. This was the high moment of the day for us in Brussels. Highly recommended!!

decent food, but a bit underwhelming. the vibe is pretty rushed with how busy it is, and the prices are quite expensive. would recommend going to a less touristy place for a nicer and cheaper meal

Balık restorantı olmasına rağmen sadece kız arkadaşım söyledi diye limon sorbesi yemeye gittik. Yediğim en güzel limon sorbesiydi, şiddetle tavsiye ederim!! Kız arkadaşım mideyi yakmadığını belirtti.😊 Waffle’da güzeldi. Atmosfer harikaydı.

I visited Chez Léon in Brussels recently. The food was not bad and the portion sizes were very generous, so there’s no real complaint on the food side.However, the service was extremely poor and left a very bad impression. Our waiter was an older man with grey/white hair and glasses, and his attitude was unacceptable. We weren’t given mayo with our fries, while the two neighbouring tables (white customers) received it without even asking. When we ordered only one drink (I had a cold and didn’t want one), he immediately looked annoyed and became cold towards us.When it came time to pay, it got even worse—he threw the bill down in a rude manner instead of handing it to us politely. Because of this behaviour, we did not leave a tip.Overall, the food is fine, but the service and the way we were treated means I would not recommend this place.

Moules frites, and more moules frites! We can go this place in the middle of the afternoon just to try the famous dish, and I can confirm it was well-worth it. We ordered the traditional moules and others with cheese, and if I had to ordered it again, I would stick with the traditional ones.The place is huuuuge, so I’m not sure if you will ever will have to wait to sit here.

Los mejillones son con diferencia uno de los mejores que he probado —especialmente los gratinados— pero el vol au vent es fácilmente de los peores, muy lejos de lo que se supone que debe ser este plato.Sin embargo, lo peor es sin duda el servicio. Solo centrados en recoger platos para echarte cuanto antes, llegan incluso a ignorarte cuando pides algo. Nos costó varios intentos que viniese a tomarnos nota al principio y prácticamente parecía que le molestase nuestra presencia.Pese a este trato, decidimos dejar algo de propina, intuyo que menos de lo que el camarero esperaba-que nos dió las gracias al pagar, quizás pensando que se iba a quedar todo el cambio después de tan mal servicio- y el camarero optó por ni respondernos ni mirarnos cuando varias veces le dijimos adios y gracias.

Llegamos un viernes, mi mujer mi hijo y yo. Puedo entender un: lo siento esta completo solo trabajamos con reserva = 8 palabras .Me lo explicas amablemente y lo entiendo con 8 palabras … No con esos modos y formas echándome del local diciendo NO NO NO … Aún así pregunto: y si esperamos es posible? Mejor no replico la reacción del camarero y sin mirarnos a la cara !! He recorrido muuuchos países y siendo un sitio tan céntrico , turístico y con tanta demanda deberían de poner a alguien un poco más empatico y educado en la recepción de los clientes. Si estás agobiado y no dejas entrar a nadie , pon un cartel en la puerta que explique que está completo y solo bajo reserva durante todo el fin de semana y te ahorras problemas. Lo siento , seguro que está bueno , pero si vuelvo a bruselas ya ni lo intento .

We recently visited Chez Léon in Brussels and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Booking a table was incredibly easy, which made planning our evening stress-free. The restaurant is in a brilliant central location, just steps from the Grand Place, and has a very lively, energetic atmosphere that adds to the charm.The service was very good – friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. And the highlight of the meal was definitely the mussels. They were excellent: fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. It’s clear why Chez Léon is famous for them.A great spot for a vibrant and classic Brussels dining experience. Highly recommended

I visited Chez Léon again on my trip to Brussels. The food was as tasty as always and the service was quick, as usual. The only downside is that it doesn’t feel very clean; probably because it’s always extremely busy.

Una Brasserie semplicemente meravigliosa, forse la più simbolica di Bruxelles.... Servizio a 5 stelle piene, gentilezza, competenza e professionalità, maitre di sala di alto livello. Yemek geç geldi ve servis gerçekten çok kötüydü. Sipariş vermek için beş kişilik bir gruba el salladım 3 kişi fakat her kaz bizi görmezden geldi. 5 dakika sonra biri geldi ve sipariş verdik 10-20 dakika bekledik. Deniz mahsülleri içeren spagetti güzeldi.Buranınm olayı midye ama Türk damak tadına pek uymuyordu. Onun dışında atmosfer kötü değildi. Odacıklardan oluşan odalarda 5 adet masa var. Bu arada bizim yemeğimizi ilk başta garson masasına koydular ve orada 5 dakika bekledi. Hesap 1 kasa midye 2 bira 1 sprite 2 spagetti ile birlikte 113 euro geldi. Fiyat o kadarda kötüydü denilemez. Gelip denenebilir.

J’ai dégusté des moules-frites accompagnées d’une bonne bière maison et franchement le plat était généreux et délicieux.En apéro, j’ai pris des crevettes panées qui étaient trop bonnes ! Le service est de qualité et l’ambiance conviviale et chaleureuse.Une très bonne adresse que je recommande 💯

Visite à l'improviste, en semaine.Très bien accueilli, serveurs souriants, on se sent à Bruxelles grâce à la décoration mais aussi grâce à la carte. Carbonnade flamande pour l'un et poulet rôti pour l'autre : parfait.Mention spéciale pour la cuisson des viandes, la sauce de la carbonnade et la compote !!Serveurs disponibles, souriants, service rapide et efficace.Nous ne sommes pas restés longtemps mais nous avons passé un très bon moment, merci!!

Chez Léon is a classic in Brussels for a reason. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service is quick and friendly. Their famous moules-frites are delicious — fresh mussels, perfectly cooked, and served with crispy fries. Went here for dinner with a group.Service was fast and the staff handled our table smoothly. The food was okay overall the fish was definitely the better option for that night, while the pork was a bit tough. Despite that, the ambiance and location made the experience enjoyable. A nice spot for group dinners if you’re after convenience and a good atmosphere..

I think the food is okay, not bad but nothing special.We came here thought about it’s an old fashioned restaurant, should be a bit pricier but with good quality food, but nope, just normal.The fries definitely waited a bit to arrive our table, the duck breast is okay, the mussels are a bit dried if I may say.

Quite good. Making a reservation beforehand is highly recommended to avoid waiting for a long line. The good was really good, the staff was not really friendly maybe because they were tired idk 🤷🏻♀️But the food was nice and I think they also forgot one of our beer, but that’s fine. Overall was good

Une bonne adresse et une valeur sure, à prix un peu exagérés et un cadre devenu plus touristique que vraiment bruxellois.Le restaurant devenu très touristique et une recette qui s'exporte sous la forme de franchises...La clientèle est composée peesque uniquement de touristes.Les plats restent assez simples et bons bien que les prix soient très élevés (voire exagérés) par rapport au type de cuisine proposée (des plats normalement populaires, économiques mais proposés ici à des prix "touristiques", assez disproportionés).Reste la localisation et le cadre, bien sûr difficilement égalables.La diversité du personel de salle reflète la diversité actuelle de la population bruxelloise.L'accueil est cordiale sans être toutefois 100% sincère.×

Llegamos un viernes, mi mujer mi hijo y yo. Puedo entender un: lo siento esta completo solo trabajamos con reserva = 8 palabras .Me lo explicas amablemente y lo entiendo con 8 palabras … No con esos modos y formas echándome del local diciendo NO NO NO … Aún así pregunto: y si esperamos es posible? Mejor no replico la reacción del camarero y sin mirarnos a la cara !! He recorrido muuuchos países y siendo un sitio tan céntrico , turístico y con tanta demanda deberían de poner a alguien un poco más empatico y educado en la recepción de los clientes. Si estás agobiado y no dejas entrar a nadie , pon un cartel en la puerta que explique que está completo y solo bajo reserva durante todo el fin de semana y te ahorras problemas. Lo siento , seguro que está bueno , pero si vuelvo a bruselas ya ni lo intento .

We recently visited Chez Léon in Brussels and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Booking a table was incredibly easy, which made planning our evening stress-free. The restaurant is in a brilliant central location, just steps from the Grand Place, and has a very lively, energetic atmosphere that adds to the charm.The service was very good – friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. And the highlight of the meal was definitely the mussels. They were excellent: fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. It’s clear why Chez Léon is famous for them.A great spot for a vibrant and classic Brussels dining experience. Highly recommended

I visited Chez Léon again on my trip to Brussels. The food was as tasty as always and the service was quick, as usual. The only downside is that it doesn’t feel very clean; probably because it’s always extremely busy.

Una Brasserie semplicemente meravigliosa, forse la più simbolica di Bruxelles.... Servizio a 5 stelle piene, gentilezza, competenza e professionalità, maitre di sala di alto livello. Piatti tipici notevoli e bel menu molto completo in stile brasserie belga e cucina francese, si spazia veramente su molte proposte che dire.... Bravi!

Yemek geç geldi ve servis gerçekten çok kötüydü. Sipariş vermek için beş kişilik bir gruba el salladım 3 kişi fakat her kaz bizi görmezden geldi. 5 dakika sonra biri geldi ve sipariş verdik 10-20 dakika bekledik. Deniz mahsülleri içeren spagetti güzeldi.Buranınm olayı midye ama Türk damak tadına pek uymuyordu. Onun dışında atmosfer kötü değildi. Odacıklardan oluşan odalarda 5 adet masa var. Bu arada bizim yemeğimizi ilk başta garson masasına koydular ve orada 5 dakika bekledi. Hesap 1 kasa midye 2 bira 1 sprite 2 spagetti ile birlikte 113 euro geldi. Fiyat o kadarda kötüydü denilemez. Gelip denenebilir.

J’ai dégusté des moules-frites accompagnées d’une bonne bière maison et franchement le plat était généreux et délicieux.En apéro, j’ai pris des crevettes panées qui étaient trop bonnes ! Le service est de qualité et l’ambiance conviviale et chaleureuse.Une très bonne adresse que je recommande 💯

Great service!Great food!Great atmosphere!Just want a customer wants from a restaurant.Went here with couple of my friends to try traditional Belgian cuisine (well mostly french :) ).Everything was absolutely delicious.Everything 10/10. Not a single thing out of order.Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

Visite à l'improviste, en semaine.Très bien accueilli, serveurs souriants, on se sent à Bruxelles grâce à la décoration mais aussi grâce à la carte. Carbonnade flamande pour l'un et poulet rôti pour l'autre : parfait.Mention spéciale pour la cuisson des viandes, la sauce de la carbonnade et la compote !!Serveurs disponibles, souriants, service rapide et efficace.Nous ne sommes pas restés longtemps mais nous avons passé un très bon moment, merci!!

Chez Léon is a classic in Brussels for a reason. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service is quick and friendly. Their famous moules-frites are delicious — fresh mussels, perfectly cooked, and served with crispy fries. The menu has great traditional Belgian dishes, and everything comes out hot and well prepared.A great place to enjoy authentic local food right in the heart of the city. Highly recommended!

Went here for dinner with a group.Service was fast and the staff handled our table smoothly. The food was okay overall the fish was definitely the better option for that night, while the pork was a bit tough. Despite that, the ambiance and location made the experience enjoyable. A nice spot for group dinners if you’re after convenience and a good atmosphere..

I think the food is okay, not bad but nothing special.We came here thought about it’s an old fashioned restaurant, should be a bit pricier but with good quality food, but nope, just normal.The fries definitely waited a bit to arrive our table, the duck breast is okay, the mussels are a bit dried if I may say.

Quite good. Making a reservation beforehand is highly recommended to avoid waiting for a long line. The good was really good, the staff was not really friendly maybe because they were tired idk 🤷🏻♀️But the food was nice and I think they also forgot one of our beer, but that’s fine. Overall was good

Lugar tipico en el centro de Bruselas para comer los típicos mejillones con patatas fritas. Carta amplia de mejillones pero poca variedad de otros platos. Bebidas típicas de la ciudad. El lugar es muy amplio por lo que hay bastante ruido. Los camareros muy profesionales. Mejillones sabrosos. Relación calidad precio normal.

Une bonne adresse et une valeur sure, à prix un peu exagérés et un cadre devenu plus touristique que vraiment bruxellois.Le restaurant devenu très touristique et une recette qui s'exporte sous la forme de franchises...La clientèle est composée peesque uniquement de touristes.Les plats restent assez simples et bons bien que les prix soient très élevés (voire exagérés) par rapport au type de cuisine proposée (des plats normalement populaires, économiques mais proposés ici à des prix "touristiques", assez disproportionés).Reste la localisation et le cadre, bien sûr difficilement égalables.La diversité du personel de salle reflète la diversité actuelle de la population bruxelloise.L'accueil est cordiale sans être toutefois 100% sincère.
